Develop Creative Wellbeing. All welcome
Thurs 7pm, starting July 23. Develop creative practices for wellbeing in everyday life
Service Description
Thursdays 7pm-9pm - for four sessions: July 23rd, 30th, August 6th, 13th. Teacher: Karly Michelle Edgar This course is four weeks of creative connection and opportunity to learn about and begin to develop our creative engagement and hopefully, start to improve our creative health. A shorter, day retreat version of this course is also being offered on Sunday 23rd August (see book classes page). Even though the benefits of engaging creatively in everyday life are being increasingly proven, it doesn't always mean it is easy to develop our creative practices or creative engagement, or know how to develop good routines, or even, where to start. Drawing on up-to-date, key texts and research, Karly will provide information, and lead you through a series of exercises that invite you to creative play, connection and reflection on your life. She will also share how being creatively engaged has been beneficial for her through her experience of chronic ill health. No visual art skill or experience needed. This course is suitable for anyone - whether you think you are (artistically) creative or not, if you want to do visual art or not. While visual art activities are used, the course is to invite you to think creatively in numerous ways - whatever that means to you, so that you can take the learning back into your life. This four week course is also an opportunity to connect with others, to imagine what might be possible, and to develop creative habits. For anyone familiar with The Artist's Way, this course follows a similar idea of information and activity, but draws not only from this text, but from others, incorporating information and research on creative wellbeing with play and creative experimentation. Please note: - All art courses & classes are offered subject to minimum numbers of enrollments. - If this class has sold out, please email us about being placed on a waiting list at art@artandalchemygallery.com * Please note this is not art therapy which is a distinct form of therapy. The activities may be 'therapeutic' but they are not therapy.
