Sunday July 12th 1pm-4pm Best for intermediate - some experience in drawing/painting and oils required as this does not provide an general introduction. Teacher: Karen Bowen Gain an understanding of the structure of the face by creating an oil collage portrait basics, using oil paints and collage. Ideal for anyone looking for an approach into how portraits can be prepared for and constructed. Materials provided, but you are encouraged to bring your own oil paints if you have them. A3 size canvas board provided Important: Bring along a printed A3 black and white photo/image of the face - front on please. We will be working on canvas boards (supplied). Please contact art@artandalchemygallery.com with any questions An A3 printing can be made for you at the gallery provided an image is emailed to us 48 hours prior to the session for $5. Facilitator: Karen Bowen is an Art & Alchemy Gallery artist, exhibiting brightly coloured oil paintings. Using mostly oil on canvas, Karen paints familiar objects and landscapes in her compositions using intense, bright colours and bold lines to create works that celebrate the joy colour brings to her and the viewer. Karen spent 3 years working under Melbourne artist, Nell Frysteen who shared a love of colour with her and started her on a journey towards colour mastery. Influenced by Matisse, the Fauves and the Expressionists, Karen’s contemporary, domestic scale paintings, cards, and prints find an audience who appreciates colour and her distinctive style.
