
Ink Workshop with Rain
Learn about ink; brush techniques, mark markin, wet-in-wet with final stone stack artwork
Service Description
Artist & educator Rain White leads a day retreat to learn the basics of using ink. This will begin with an introduction to ink, including brush techniques and mark making using short illustrative exercises of bamboo in black. This then extends into learning wet-in-wet technique and starting with the use of colour by experimenting with combining colours to create beautiful natural variations in tints and tones. The retreat concludes with a Zen inspired stone stack as a final artwork to take home. All art materials provided. There will be a lunch period of 45mins but lunch is not provided. Please bring lunch or plan to order lunch from the cafe over the road (there will not be time to travel elsewhere). You can pre-order your lunch before the session starts, details will be provided when booking to help you prepare. The timeline for the day will be*: 10.30-12.30 - session 1 12.30-1.15 - lunch 1.15-3.30 - session 2 - session will wrap up around 3.15 onwards. *This is an approximation, the exact times may differ Tea & coffee station provided. It is highly recommended that you bring appropriate gear for the weather of the day, as it is recommended that during the lunch period you take a short walk or at least go outside for an inspiring change of scenery. There is a short walk with public sculptures directly opposite the gallery, further information will be provided on booking. Facilitator : Rain White is an artist and educator based in the Dandenong Ranges. Her diverse practice encompassing painting, printmaking and sculpture, explores our therapeutic connection to the environment. Rain’s works focus on pattern, colour and repetition of forms to create of a symbolic landscape act as a metaphor for personal journey and reflection. The symbolic and emotional content of her art encourages philosophical contemplation.
