Painting, Hand Dyed Scaffs
Anita Roleff decided to become an artist at the age of nine. She studied Art at Swinburne Art School and, after attaining top marks in Folio Presentation, as well as Life and Costume Drawing, she graduated with a Certificate of Art in 1961. When employed by Austral Transfers, she learnt the skills of transfer design, photographic reproduction and engraving.
While living in Adelaide, she joined the Royal South Australian Society of Arts and after returning to Melbourne, she joined The Hut Art Society, where her solo exhibition received favourable reviews in the local Press. Notwithstanding the demands placed upon her by rearing SIX children, Anita sought to broaden her experience, through periods of study in pottery/ceramics with Peter Petrucelli, tonal painting with David Moore and water colour with Malcolm Beattie.
During the 1980s and 1990s she worked as a Diversional Therapist at Moorfield Community Care, teaching silk painting, ceramics, weaving and other crafts. For several years, Anita produced charcoal portraits at school fetes, including Yarra Valley Grammar and Tintern Grammar. She joined Ringwood Art Society in 2003 and has designed and published (with her husband Paul) a book called Southers Star Mercedes-Benz in Australia.
Anita primarily has her scarfs and ink paintings in Art & Alchemy Gallery.
