We had some absolutely beautiful spring weather last weekend. It’s a great time to start planning some weekend trips up to the Dandenong Ranges and we’d love you to come and visit us!
We had some wonderful classes this term, with a few booking into accommodation to spend the weekend walking, visiting the gallery and attending a class which has been so wonderful! I highly recommend the mini-vacation - check out our classes and combine them with a look around at stunning artworks we have here.
We have a wonderful range of new classes coming up over the rest of the year. We have a great selection of technique classes, including a wonderful session learning from Rain White about her loose and layered acrylic approach to painting, Still life Drawing with coloured pencils also with Rain, and an abstract Still Life painting class with Karen.
There is also another area that I am developing here, that of creativity and wellbeing.
I’m offering an Enhancing Creative Wellbeing class where we will look at how creative engagement can be so beneficial for our wellbeing - for anyone, not just artists! It will include activities you can easily do at home and invite you to consider how you might incorporate daily or weekly activities into your life.
I’ll also be teaching a Creative Rituals for Remembrance for All Souls which will be a gentle session of considering how to develop rituals and practices in remembrance of others (or perhaps for grief more generally). How we engage with rituals and similar practices has long been an interest of mine and been part of my various studies and I believe that (helpful) rituals are inherently creative in their development. Please make sure you read the description to see if this will be appropriate for you though. For both the Enhancing Creative Wellbeing and Rituals session, they can be described as therapeutic but are not therapy.
My Life Storytelling session was so successful this term, I've offered a slightly shorter version midweek this term - perfect for anyone who would like to record some form of story telling legacy, or would like to help others tell theirs using.
Further developing this area, there will be an intuitive art making session with Mary McCowan who will be exhibiting her works soon in the Salon Space. This is a session for anyone to learn more about mixed media artmaking from Mary but may be particularly beneficial for anyone who says ‘I’m not an artist’ or ‘I used to be an artist’.... or similar! No experience needed as Mary will gently invite you in and guide you through the process.
Mindful Watercolour with Gabby Willmott offer a similar space where she will use watercolour as a method for developing mindfulness, leading you through a relaxing session.
I almost forgot - we have some great Friday Evening Social Sessions paint n' sip style - perfect for end of year celebrations, for a creative way to end the week or just a fun activity. If your work might like one of these sessions delivered just for you as an end of year activity, please get in touch!

Spotlight on Exhibition Gathered
I'm really looking forward to Mary McCowan's exhibition 'Gathered' in our Salon Space starting on 14th Oct with a free opening event on Sunday Oct 18th 2.30-4.30 (see below). Mary's work is a deeply personal collection, developed from her daily, creative and spiritual practice as she reflects on her experience of the world. She creates using everyday materials that reflect how she lives in the world and she builds up her work through repetition. She has a beautiful, reflective, intuitive style that she has developed over many years. During her opening event we will hear a little bit more about her process and creative engagement and in November she will be running a Sunday class about intuitive art making to invite others to find their own way into a daily practice.
